About The Health and ADRA Department
Pastor Fabien is a Dominican by birth of Seventh-day Adventist heritage. He was educated and taught in SDA schools including the then Caribbean Union College. He attended Eden Valley Institute in Colorado USA where he underwent extensive training as a medical missionary and lifestyle educator. He is the author of “Caution : Wet Saints”. He is married and has one child with a B.Th. from the Caribbean Union College. The work of restoration includes reformation of the physical habits of man, and the Health Ministries Department has been organized by the church to inspire its members to attain to optimal health and soundness. Physical health contributes to emotional and spiritual well being; thus we promote the Biblical plant based diet chosen for us by our Creator, without neglecting the other aspects of physical wellness – regular exercise, copious amounts of water, moderate use of sunlight, abstinence from health destroying substances (including mind altering drugs), fresh air, adequate rest, and trust in Divine Power.
Health ministry extends beyond the walls of the church, and touches lives where it matters. Following Christ’s methods of evangelism involves improving the quality of life for everyone, regardless of race, religion, or other distinction. The Health Expo is one of the most effective ways of reaching a community for Christ. This, coupled with health education seminars, brings people face to face with their own health needs, and introduces them to the Great Physician Jesus Christ.
We endeavor to work closely with governmental and non-governmental organizations in promoting health in the nation. Some of the partners which have worked with the Department in the past include: The Ministry of Health of the Government of Saint Lucia; the Saint Lucia Diabetic and Hypertensive Association; The Saint Lucia Cancer Society; The Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association; The AIDS Action Foundation; The Blood Bank.
