Pastor Terry Alva John
Terry Alva John was born on February 21, 1978 to Adventists Parents Patrick John and Leonora John, the second of three children and grew up in the community of York-Hill, La Clery, Castries. His primary and secondary education took him first to Carmen Rene΄ Memorial School, then on to the Leon Hess Comprehensive School. He cherishes his lifelong fellowship as a member of the Maranatha S.D.A. Church and acknowledges the impact that the uniform clubs at Castries Church had upon his formative years. He was baptized in 1991 as a result of a crusade conducted by Pastor Matison Preville, who was then a ministerial student.
His love for Christ was very evident as a child perhaps just as prominent as his charming smile, however, it was not until he was a young adult that he received Gods call for greater service as a pastor. His plan was to be a civil engineer but God was drafting designs for another career path. In 2000 he enrolled at the University of the Southern Caribbean formerly Caribbean Union College where God equipped him to execute the calling on his life. There he served as an Elder, Student Body Chaplain, President of the Colporteur Club, Vice President of the Ministerial Association. At the end of his studies he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology with a minor in Music.
While at the University, (Caribbean Union College), he met the radiant compliment to his life and ministry Avril Kimberly Henry. Their love grew and blossomed into a marriage covenant on July 23, 2006. Since graduating in 2005, he was called to internship and served the Babonneau District under the leadership of Pastor Matison Preville. In January 2007 he was appointed Pastor of the Dennery District of Seventh-day Adventists and is till a faithful steward of that responsibility. He has also served as a Religious Instruction teacher and is presently the chaplain of the St. Lucia S.D.A. Academy. Pastor John enjoys spreading the good news of Christ to a world in need. He especially loves working with the youth in choirs and the uniformed work. It is his aim to win all of Dennery for the Lord. Through his ministry the Lord of the harvest has welcomed over 680 souls into His Kingdom.
Pastor John glorifies God for the call and empowerment for service. He acknowledges the spiritual support, balance and joy his wife has added to his life, the prayers of his parents, encouragement of his extended family and the nurture of the Maranatha S.D.A. Church. Special thanks to the members of the Babonneau District who were instrumental in his ministerial development and to the loving and supportive members of the Dennery District who have truly accepted him as their spiritual leader. Pastor John is eternally grateful for the embrace and camaraderie he shares with fellow ministers of the St. Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists.
